Have You Been Lackadaisical About Your Health?
If we’ve learned one thing over the course of this pandemic, it’s the importance of good health. Too many of us have been lackadaisical in our approach to health and wellness. What do I mean by that? I mean, too many of us have neglected our health for whatever reasons may be. We enjoy and continue eating junk food even though we know it doesn’t support good health. We prefer to sit on the couch after work instead of taking time for some exercise or activity. We drink too many sodas or too much alcohol. We eat too much sugar or not enough vegetables. The point is, for many of us we have been lazy when it comes to our health. It’s easy to understand this attitude. We know our habits aren’t the best but we think we have time to fix it later. And then a pandemic hits and there is no time for later. There’s only time for now. And that’s where we can help.
The basic building blocks of good health are the same today as they were yesterday and 200 years ago. We don’t need a new inoculation or drug to become healthy. We just need to do what humans have done forever in order to stay healthy.
Practicing good hygiene is a great place to start when dealing with a virus! I think most of us have figured that out.
Eating a nutritious-dense diet is important. We have to learn what that means. How do you eat a diet rich in nutrition?
Quality supplementation is important. I’m sorry if you disagree with this but my 38 years of clinical experience has convinced me of one thing: the healthiest people also take supplements to make up for the lost nutrients in our modern food supply.
Chiropractic care and other body work like massage and yoga are important. Function is directly related to structure so if you want a body that functions well, you need one with proper structure.
Attitude is important! Perhaps most important. Remember, “If you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re probably right”. So believe you CAN. You CAN do what it takes to build a strong foundation of health. You are capable and able to take whatever action you need to take; to find the strength of will; to find the support and to learn new ways of eating and living that support greater health. Yes, you can!
Last but not least by any stretch of the imagination, our spiritual attitude is important. Feelings of resentment, anger, fear and doubt lower our immune response and make our bodies more susceptible to illness and infection. Make it a habit to practice forgiveness, tolerance, patience and compassion. Stay connected to your spiritual source in whatever way works best for you. Prayer, meditation, contemplation, service work or whatever else keeps you plugged in.
